    CHEVRON TOWER GETS COUNCIL NOD

    PRESS: GOLD COAST BULLETIN

CONSTRUCTION of a $110m Chevron Island high-rise will begin in mid-2023 after it was given the green light by city leaders.

The Gold Coast City Council has approved prolific developer Aniko Group’s 21-storey tower, which is earmarked for a 1518sq m site on Weemala St.

It is the company’s first development outside of Hope Island where it has spent more than $500m in the past four years.

Aniko boss George Mastrocostas said work would soon begin to clear the site to make way for the unnamed tower.

“We are extremely happy to have council approval behind us, as we now look to the next phase of delivering our signature dose of luxury to Chevron Island,” he said

“With all approvals now in place, we are looking forward to carrying the next luxury offering into Chevron Island.

The 102 units in the tower will go on the market in coming months starting from $795,000.

More than 20 towers have been proposed for the island in the past seven years, but only a handful have been built.

With several now under construction, Chevron Island residents have called for the Gold Coast City Council to develop a masterplan for the area and widen the traffic bridges to reduce the congestion which already bring the Thomas Dr thoroughfare to a halt.

It comes just weeks after the prolific developer unveiled its biggest project – a $1bn, four-tower mega project earmarked for a 1.1342ha site at Seaview Ave next to Pacific Fair Shopping Centre and the Broadbeach public transport hub.

It will have four towers of 25. 30. 40 and 45 storeys respectively, which will include more than 5000sq m of premium commercial office space.
